jimdrake Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I am trying to do a clean install of SP2 on my machine.I have tried to use nlite to create a bootable .iso.I have also tried to manually slipstream the SP2 files with my XP CD and create an .iso using CDIMAGE GUI.Anyway, I always get the same problem. The initial setup works fine (put in CD KEY, choose admin pass, etc). My machine reboots and I'm expecting it to load up to the desktop. Instead my display goes to sleep. My mainboard is an Asus P4C800 and my graphics card is a Matrox Millennium P650.Any ideas?
jimdrake Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Just did a clean install of XP Pro SP1a from my original CD. The first thing I did after reaching the desktop was to run the SP2 install. After reboot the same thing happens, display sleeps and the install is un-usable.If I install the drivers for my graphics card and then install SP2 then everything is OK. The drivers for the graphics card are gash, they require two reboots during install!I guess that trying to bundle these into a bootable CD wouldn't work. Will I never be able to do a clean install of SP2 on my hardware?
