Microsoft MCE Remote Control

Hi,

So I have this remote control. And im trying type letters using it. But I can't seem to. It looks just like a cell phone key pad, where if you press the #2 twice you get the letter a, then if you press #2 3 times you get b. I get the numbers, but if I press it twice or 3 times I still get the number. How do you type letters? I don't have MCE installed, using this on Xp Pro.
