BlueStreax Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 (edited) Started installing XP x64 the other day. All went fine till it started to install the devices. By the looks of things, it happens when installling the video card - ATi RADEON 9550 256Mb (AGP 8x). The screen flickers once as it installs, but when it flickers again, the screen remains black, i get no signal from the monitor, and the PC crashes. Anyone has any thoughts??----------------------Windows XP Pro (32-bit)AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (SKT 754)ATi Radeon 9550 256MbECS 755-A2 Motherboard2x 160Gb SATA Drives1Gb Kingston Value RAM Edited March 24, 2006 by BlueStreax
cluberti Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Is the driver you are uisng 64 bit, and is it WHQL certified or "signed"? If not, you're playing with fire...
BlueStreax Posted March 25, 2006 Author Posted March 25, 2006 (edited) I'm not sure really. It's the driver from the disk that Windows installs. I've tried using nLite to add a 64bit driver straight from ATI's website, and to remove all the video drivers to install a compatible one, but it still crashes in the same spot. Stead Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 i'd try turning down the agp speed in the bios, or setting bios to defaults.otherwise, would it be possible its setting the refresh to high for your monitor?
