Ok i just got a HP 5000t laptop. it came with a partition recovery which i made into a dvd. Basically all i need or want of that dvd is the drivers. So i load XP pro into the comp and everything works, with exception of no drivers. I got Nlite to integrate the drivers in the xp cd. I took the INF files that have the drivers and imported them onto the program. anyway the program went through its thing. I made a bootable cd. The computer boots from the cd but goes into Caldera and stops at some A:/ prompt. Any ideas on what i am doing wrong? I need these drivers and i can see no other way of getting them. The recover DVD is one of those things that either instals Everything including XP home or nothing. Any info would be great.

Afraid I don't have much experience added drivers as you mention. I have had much success using the BTS universal driver packs--pretty easy to use to if you can follow instructions.

If you don't want to go this route, what I would do is go to your computer manufacterer's web site and download at minimum the driver for you Network card (or what ever device you use to connect to the internet), as long as you have that available to install, you can usually find the drivers for all your other devices over the internet or using Windows update after you are finished installing windows.

The installed OS of your notebook has an extracted set of drivers--why not use an app to back them up for integration? This one does a generally good job (though I've known it to miss an important file once in a while), is absurdly easy to use, and it's free.
