sedd_18 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I have a gateway laptop and it came with a factory restore partion, its kinda a nice idea cause I dont really have to carry my restore CD's everywhere I go. The problem is that I can't figure out how to get into the partition to slipstream updates to it. Is there any tools out there that might let me get into this partition and update it? I tried to search for this in the forums but nothing came up. Thanks for your time.
erebus Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 You can access the partition by command prompt but that isn't going to help you slippstream new hotfixes. the recovery partition is a image. you can add the updates to the ones that you pc already adds after reimaging. navigate to d:\I386\Apps and find the folder that contains the batch to install newer updates. edit the bat to include your updates and copy them to the folder. Then after a reformat when the gateway startes installing applications it will include the newer updates. you can also remove demo programs by deleting the .dta file that corisponds to it from D:\I386\apps\dta
