Hello!

An other question. I have loads of software I figured out how to update from a local server and some reg files that need regular updating. However, my users do not have rights to do any of this. So, how do I update my stuff? IS there a way to do it windows-update-like, so there's an option "Install updates and shut down"?

Thus would be REALLY cool. I wouldn't have to worry about updating 50+ computers every week.

Thanks

J

You may want to think about using SMS. Our admin here has just started using it and has done some pretty sweet things with it, such as deploying Office updates, Mcafee updates, hardware queries, etc.

I do HAVE a local update server. As far as software is conserned. Or can I use the local wupdate server method to deploy software updates?

However, I found a means to install my software. I use a local policy to run a shutdown script. This should work since software runs with SYSTEM rights.

If you are running a domain, you can use group policy to distribute MSI installations.

SMS would be nice, but it is not free.

And NO, you can not use SUS or WSUS to distribute your own updates.
