folder view when opening/saving files

Hi,

word 2003.

in windows explorer i can set the folder bar to show in all drives/folders so that windows explorer shows the folder list in the left hand pane and the folder contents in the right hand pane.

How can i set this to be the same in word. Such that the explorer window that opens in word when i want to open or save a file, has the same layout as mentioned above.

Sorry if that's unclear. I have some screenies if that would help.

Is this possible to change word to operate in this way. So far i can't find a way.

Is there a reg hack ?

thanks in advance,

morag

hiya,

thanks for the reply.

It's not the my places bar that's the problem.

You know when you open a normal windows file explorer window and you can set that so that it shows a folder bar ie the window splits into two columns where one is the folder tree structure and the other is the files therein. Well that's what I want to see when i select file>open or save as in word.

does that help..

cheers

Guess I should have said "No. You can't do that."

It's very difficult to even get Windows explorer to behave properly from a separate window using Word automation. The open dialog is common to all Office apps, too, and to my knowledge, it's just not customizable.
