morag Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Hi,word 2003.in windows explorer i can set the folder bar to show in all drives/folders so that windows explorer shows the folder list in the left hand pane and the folder contents in the right hand pane.How can i set this to be the same in word. Such that the explorer window that opens in word when i want to open or save a file, has the same layout as mentioned above.Sorry if that's unclear. I have some screenies if that would help.Is this possible to change word to operate in this way. So far i can't find a way.Is there a reg hack ?thanks in advance,morag

morag Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 hiya,thanks for the reply.It's not the my places bar that's the problem.You know when you open a normal windows file explorer window and you can set that so that it shows a folder bar ie the window splits into two columns where one is the folder tree structure and the other is the files therein. Well that's what I want to see when i select file>open or save as in word.does that help..cheers
Anne Troy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Guess I should have said "No. You can't do that."It's very difficult to even get Windows explorer to behave properly from a separate window using Word automation. The open dialog is common to all Office apps, too, and to my knowledge, it's just not customizable.
