[Error] - can't import into registry

when i try to import a reg file into the registry i get this error:

"some keys are open by the system or other processes"

even though i m logged in as an admin!

I find this problem to be frequent lately. You sometimes need more than admin access to do tasks on a machine. Usually rebooting into safe mode with command prompt is enough. If not, you need to login as system. Boot WinPE on the machine giving you registry problems and load the problematic hive in %Windows%\System32\Config.
