alfordsteven Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Hi, I have been using Eudora and recently switched to Outlook. I want to do something I thought would be simple: direct my attachments to a subdirectory mydocuments/attach (this is what I had been doing in Eudora). However, based on the info on the ms site, I have to edit the registry (!) and as far as I can tell, the edit would send both the inbox messages AND the attachments to this directory. Since the attachments are most often .doc or .jpg, I want to be able to get to them easily independent of the message that bears them. However, the current directory structure:documents and settings/myname/local settings/temporary internet files does not seem to yield the attachments and the stated subdirectory, OKLDF, doesn't seem to exist (I checked to see if it was hidden). I am frustrated with not being able to find my attachments outside of Outlook only allowing me to either save or open them, and not being able to redirect them so I can access them without going down a rabbit hole of subdirectories and subdirectories. Thanks in advance for your advice. (I considered leaving them where they were and writing some macro to get at them more easily, but that struck me as about as wacky as having to hack the registry to redirect the attachments.)Steve
Anne Troy Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Yo, Steve. Sorry you didn't get an answer sooner, but perhaps some VBA code would be helpful to you?http://vbaexpress.com/kb/getarticle.php?kb_id=522Note that the code at the article does MORE than you want, but that if you remove pieces of it, you should be just fine.Change the C:\temp part to C:\Documents and setting.... my Documents\my folderA lot to do, but one hour now could save you hours and hours later...
alfordsteven Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 Thanks! This looks fab!My only question is, why didn't I think of this? (heh-heh).Steve
