Workgroup shared folder access

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a wireless LAN at home, my laptop is running Windows XP Home, and the other PC is running XP Pro.

I have been able to access shared folders on the PC from the laptop for a while, then one day it suddenly stopped working.

The network itself is working, but every time I try to access a folder across the network, a login screen pops up with the guest account as the username - greyed out and cannot be changed.

When I try to access the entire network, I get a message that I don't have the permissions to access the workgroup "MSHome".

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Try running the "set up a home or small office network wizard" located in my network places. Run it on both machine's see if this helps.

Try this if you haven't already...

In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View [tab] > UNTICK Use simple filesharing (Recommended).
