I did do a search here most points to untick "use drop shadow ..." in performance settings or th listviewshadow key, both did not work.

Can someone help me please?

If you are not using a wallpaper, the shadow effect is unnoticeable.

I also believe it has to be a BMP file not a JPG or other format. Don't know why though

Hello coorrel, welcome to the forum. Paste the following into notepad and save as *.reg, apply during setup and shadow will be activated.

The following will hide my computer, my network places, my documents from Desktop.

Finally find it, took me a while to look through my regtweak file, it was:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

"FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000002­
