Networking Issues

I have a small workgroup with 4 PCs. 2 - XPMC, 1 - XP Home, and 1 - XP Pro. I am having issues seeing all of the PCs on the network. Some days everything works great, but most of the time, I am unable to see the XPMC PCs, and they are unable to see the others. I ping around by IPs, and eventually I am able to see all of the PCs. What can I do to resolve this issue. The IPs are set static, no firewalls are enabled, all of the PCs are in the same workgroup, no viruses or spyware can be found.

try disabling authentication. right-click on the network connection>properties>authentication and un-check the "enable IEEE 802.....for this network"

I tried that and it didn't help. Any other ideas??
