According to

you can add a /q switch to the shortcut target line (but for Office XP, at least you need to make your own shorcuts to the exe files rather than use the default ones, which have the target line greyed out)

Example for Word XP to open without splash screen, target is

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE" /q

Tested this, it works.

which version of office are you running?

Office 2003.

Thanks. It works. I wonder if there is any way to disable Outlook's splash screen without using Splash Killer.
