[Question] Editing the remote registry hives.

i have two operating system. SP and 2003

i have to edit 2003 registry hives(%systemroot%\system32\config\*.*) from windows XP

my 2003 in unbootable, coz i have edited some registry keys,, i have to set them back..

how can i do that

is there any program for that.

If it's a dual boot system (as opposed to two separate machines) you can just boot into XP (assuming you can do that) and load hive (HKLM and HKCU only) from within regedit.

That's the easy part.

The difficult part would be to know what to change back.

(I assume you've tried Last Good Config.)

In regedit:

highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

File > Load Hive

Navigate to:

system32\config\

and pick your hive.

Don't forget to unload it afterwards.
