Create ssh:// association

Recommended Posts

I've never tried to do this before and google doesn't search for special characters so I figure I'll just ask.

I would like to associate ssh:// with putty so that when I type ssh://addressofcomputer it will open an ssh session with that computer using putty.

Just as http:// opens in Internet Explorer

and telnet:// opens in a cmd window executing the telnet command.

Anyone have any tips

Perhaps there is a way to do this through autohotkey. The version of the c't contains a function, that you can enter commands directly in the addressbar of the explorer. Perhapy you just have to modify this a little to fulfill your needs...

Have a look here

http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/result.xhtml?ur...ords=AutoHotkey.

Unfortunately the homepage is in german, but the program is in englisch. So just download actiaid and install it. There are integrated a lot of examples.

It's worth a look anyway, since I installed this, I don't want to miss it anymore. Some nice extensions which are well known from MAC or Linux.

Okay well it looks like after a lot of experimenting and finally searching the internet I have found my answer.

Incase anyone want to know how I searched. I used ssh\shell\open\command which would be the registry structure for doing such a thing.

Anyway below are two links that discuss this.
