muchlux Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Hi,for using a USB Memorystick with W98se, there is a driver patch on the internet. (Google)You have to know the VID and PID of the memorystick , edit the inf file of a driver (e.g. Samsung) accordingly and it works. You have to do this for every different type of memorystick again. So far so good.Unfortunately I am no software geek, but it should be possible to automate the process: Read out the VID and PID of the registry then create a appropriate inf file.Or, if somewhere is a table with known VIDs and PIDs of memorysticks, why do not create a universal inf file which may contain all of the VIDs/PIDs and installs them automatically if needed?
LLXX Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Are these what you're looking for?http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=43605
muchlux Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Yes, this looks well. But unfortunately this is also only a collection of some known IDs up to a certain date, so newer USB devices won't install.I still have to use USBVIEW.EXE get VID and PID and put them manually into the inf.Maybe I'm to ambitious searching for a solution like W2k/XP already have.
