sedative Posted November 22, 2001 Posted November 22, 2001 here's an odd question. does anybody know a way to get rid of "invalid" or other unneeded shell extentions? for example, if you have winamp installed, when you right click on an item you see "enqueue in winamp". stuff like that. i'm not asking this regarding winamp, i'm actually looking to get rid of "scan with norton antivirus". it has been removed from my system, yet the shell extention remains. and before anybody suggets that i reinstall/uninstall the program.. been there, done that. :grump
Micropocalypse Posted November 22, 2001 Posted November 22, 2001 i know how, but lou could explain beter.
sedative Posted November 24, 2001 Author Posted November 24, 2001 sorry about being impatient, but these things are getting under my skin.. anyone help? anyone? anyone? bueller? bueller?(i'm looking at you, lou) :WTF?:
Guest LouCypher Posted November 24, 2001 Posted November 24, 2001 Do a search in the registry for all instances of:"Symantec.Norton.Antivirus.IEContextMenu" (without the quotes)It will be under a few entries like:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTfileShellExContextMenuHandlersSymantec.Norton.Antivirus.IEContextMenuDelete all these entries you find under "ContextMenuHandlers"Delete any copies of NAVSHEXT.DLL on the HD. It handles the norton Antivirus Shell Extensions.
