having problem(s) running ntbackup

hi guys

when i try to backup my systemstate with ntbackup , the operation will be terminated with the following error :

Backup Status

Operation: Backup

Active backup destination: File

Media name: "some name"

Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1.

Timeout before function completed

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:0xffffffff.

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:ffffffff

Aborting Backup.

Is this on XP? Shadow Copy is a part of 2003. I have seen this happen if you have disk errors. Have you tried a full disk check?
