atomizer
what about 'safe mode' and choose 'last known good'?
Nepali
i have already tried SAFE MODEand it is already too late to have last known good configuration..i have heard that it is possible by editing some registry key from safe mode,, and there are some software which can change resolution (which can't be accessed in setting properties.) EagerBeaver
Have you tried hooking up your laptop to an external monitor? If you hook it up via VGA, most monitors support 1024x768 and you should be able to switch it to 800x600 so the laptop LCD will display when logged on to windows. RJM
You could allways boot your computer into safe mode (640x480)and delete your display drivers, reboot in normal mode which will now be 640x480, reinstall your display drivers and then set your display settings to 800x600. cluberti
The previous posters are correct - use the VGA mode of the F8 boot menu, or boot into safe mode and remove the display driver (and monitor, if it's there) from the device manager. Unless you have remote command-line access to the box (telnet, psexec), these are your only options. However, if you have remote command-line access to the box, there is a utility called "Resolution Changer" (http://www.12noon.com/products.htm) which you can use to set the resolution and refresh rate from the command line. pawan
Try to set the following registry key (verify in HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG entries for your adapter).[HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\SERVICES\IALM\DEVICE0]"DefaultSettings.XResolution"=dword:00000320"DefaultSettings.YResolution"=dword:00000258Pawan
