FatherDrew Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Hello, recently I have downloaded and installed Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition, and I'm quite estatic about this marvelous piece of software.I am new to programming in general, but I hope to eventually program games. The trouble is that I am having problems installing the Microsoft Platform SDK(here).I can download the file, but whenever I try to run it I get a 1619 Windows Installer error ("This installation package could not be opened. verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package").Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
spiritpyre Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 According to Microsoft's instructions for using VC++ 2005 Express w/ PSDK, you're doing everything right. If you're still having problems with this, I would try re-downloading the psdk. If you have a broadband connection I would recommend downloading the iso version of the PDSK because I remember having problems with one of the other version (don't remember if it was web-install or the "full-download" version). Also after you've installed the psdk, you will need to tell VC++ to use the updated include files from the psdk. In VC++ 6.0 (student version?), i think it was under (Tools >> Otions >> 'Directories' Tab ). Hope that helps. good luck
LLXX Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Tis a rather large file. A download manager is recommended.
