tonymathis Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 (edited) My unattended install never completes. On first reboot it goes directly to the windows loading screen then to the windows setup screen then reboots and does the same again. I'm sure it's something stupid. MCT Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 how r u testing? if in vmware ?if in windows ? did u remove SATA, SCSI drivers? r u do u have the drivers being installed?if not sounds like thats your prob, i removed that but forgot 2 slipstream my drivers & windows just sat @ the bootscreen never loaded
-Anton- Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 This probably won't resolve tonymatis's situation, but I have run into a somewhat different scenario: at T-39 or T-37 the setup would stop doing things and just hang in there, occasionally swapping the billboard messages and nothing else. As the actual setup is done by a detached process, it means this process is dying for whatever reason. As it turns out, the most frequent reason is running out of memory. It appears that unattended setup takes a lot more memory than regular one. I have just tested my new unattended setup disk in a 128MB virtual machine, and it died at T-37. Increased memory to 256MB, and bingo - it went OK.

I've compared it to my original XP CD and it seems to be missing some things. SETUP.EXE for example. Edited December 11, 2005 by tonymathis
