JoinDomain very slow = DNS problems ?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm doing an unattended setup for windows 2000.

I set the JoinDomain option in the answer file, but the first "pre-logon" phase before the first "Ctrl+Alt+Del" prompt is VERY long...

I'm quite sure it deals with the rights of my DNS server (on my win2K domain controler) :

I can see my new PC in the "reverse" zone, but it is not listed in the "direct" search zone.

It's strange because both zones have the same rights...

I noticed I had no problem if I first join a workgroup (in unattended) and then join the domain "manually"

Thanks for your advices !

P.S forgive me if the terms are not the real ones, I'm on a french version of win2K

Gloubs

SOLVED I think

(Answering myself...)

It seems Kerio was blocking something (I was testing on Vmware) and the firewall on the host machine seems to mess the "joindomain" process.

I've read somewhere that it could also come from the FQDN in the joindomain parameter... but I left the netbios name of my domain and it worked...

So the firewall was probably the problem..

Bye
