Help with upgrade to XP Please!

Hi Everyone

I'm a having a probelm upgrading to XP from 98. When I get to the preparing installation part of the process I get the message Cannot read D:\1386\dosnet.inf I've tried everything I can think of. Can anyone enlighten me?

potentially a scratched disc, or cd-rom drive is packing up.

Packing up? What can I do to avoid this? or fix it?

Also will XP eventually load? Or will it just keep trying and never suceed?

Try to copy all of the CD contents to a folder on your hard drive and then see if you can

start the install from there.

1:\ Make a folder called XP

2:\ Copy all CD contents to the folder called XP

3:\ Start the upgade process from the folder called XP
