Synapse Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 those folders are shown because you have show hidden system files option enabled, and the do not show hidden system files off. these folders are made whenever you install a hotfix and are there incase you need to uninstall the hotfix.unless you're struggling for harddrive space iwould just leave them alone.
HyperHacker Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Blue filenames indicate compressed files btw. There's also green (encrypted) but you shouldn't encounter this in system files.
geno52 Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 Thank you very much for the help with the BLUE items, which I have taken care of... Now for the KB.log items... Since they are log is there any reason for them to be there???I do have 160gb of hard drive, so I suspose they arent in the way of anything.. Just wondering,,, being a novice in the puter thing isnt easy....
Synapse Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 na they're not needed. they're just logs of the installation of the hotfixes. so they can be removed. however i can't recall if they're needed for uninstall of hotfixes. if you're comp has been running fine and doesn't look like you'll have to uninstall hotfixes remove them if you wish. otherwise they're just like 10KB each per file. so not a big space thing to worry about.i highly recommend running a program called CCleaner (stand for Crap Cleaner). it will clean up files that are cluttering your computer, such as Internet Temp Files, .log files, .bak files. etc.
