File / Folder Security

Afternoon,

Quick question.

I want my laptop which isn't connected to a domain to display file / folder security information as if it is connected to a domain. IE: I want it to list users with access to a certain file and I want to be able to let other users view the file without dragging it to the "shared docs" folder.

Go to Windows Explorer, click on Tools>Folder Options, click on the View tab, scroll down and un-tick "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)", click OK. You now have access to the Security tab

As long as you've got XP Pro, the previous suggestion will work just fine. If you have XP Home, you're out of luck.
