FearMan Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi! My mother bought a MCE computer to our local computer store and it came with the CDs. Unfortunately, my mother only speaks french. I own XP Pro French CDs. I tried many things but I'd like to know if it is possible to simply replace the content of MCE CD1 with the content of XP Pro???Thanx alot!
Nakatomi2010 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 As my understanding as it, XP Pro CD is essentially CD1 of MCE, and what triggers the request for CD2 is the MCE key...You should be able to change the language stuff in XP though to reflect the local language... Just never done it before....
odyssey5 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 (edited) Hi! You should not mess with system files in that way. However I have discovered a very easy method to archive exactly what you want.I thought the way you apply a language to a "Multilanguage OS" were limited to a Multilanguage installation. This is however not true - it can be applied to ANY install !!! (Maybe limited to english OS, I have not yet tried). In this case, you need a language package for Windows XP and I can confirm that this works perfectly on MCE 2005, but it might be slightly difficult to find these packages, as they are of course only supplied with "Multilanguage OS'es", but use your imagination . Also I think that there might be some licensing trouble, but my personal oppinion is that I think these packages should be free for everybody (or even included in every release)....oh just one thing: the MCE application itself are still english, as the language package only affects the system.
