Using "run as" crashes Windows Explorer

Featured Replies

When I use the "run as" command to run a program as my admin account, Windows Explorer crashes, then reloads, and the application I was trying to open doesnt open at all. This happens with MMC snap ins, control panel applications etc etc

I have tried entering numerous different credentials into the run as dialog box including the local admin account but the same symptoms persist. I have also logged on as local admin and tried to use run as but again, explorer crashes and reloads so it doesnt appears to be a profile related issue.

I am running Windows XP wih SP1 with up to date security patches, installing SP2 is not an option as this is a work machine. I have searched on Google and Microsoft Premier and cannot find anything relevant. Does anyone have any ideas? :realmad:

A clean boot.. as it may be the fix all.. is not always the first option.

I would first try and run sfc.exe /scannow to replace system files with the correct versions.

Also make sure that the secondary logon services is set to automatic.
