Drivers for Dummies

I have run a company in the IP camera management field for some time now. I OEM one core product and add cameras to develop a vertical market not pursued by the OEM. I have had developers working on camera drivers. I am now looking for ways to grow the company and have been asked in depth questions about our product by potential investors. Our product is made up of mostly drivers for IP cameras. My questions are:

1) If the manufacturer of a camera already builds drivers, how hard is it to build a driver to interact with a windows program (our OEM software)?

2) Is a driver built for a OEM software platform valuable outside of the product it was developed for? If so what is it worth and how would you sell it?

3) Can a driver be considered IP (Intellectual property) If so, in what circumstance? If you are building it with a manufacturer SDK does it still apply?

4) What makes up a driver? What makes up an IP camera driver? Is this driver special and different from other drivers?
