how to detected system IP adress conflict in program

Hello everyone!

I want to write a program which can modify my IP adress automatic, but before I change the ip , I want to know if my ip conflict with the subnet computer ip .

how to do ? thanks! I use VC6 tool to write my program.

Maybe you can use your program to automatically ping the new IP address, and only change to the new address if the pings don't come back.
