surreal
Hi,I have a Windows 2000 Server machine used as a File server with a large number of local groups existing on it (my predecessor found that putting domain groups into local server groups was the best way to manage data access...) and a Windows 2003 Standard Server that is to be a replacement of the file server component from the 2000 machine. What I need to know is what people would recommend for migrating the files across (about 10gig or so), but how to also transfer the local groups from the old machine (about 40) which have the NTFS access to the files I need to transfer.I had a look at the 'file and settings transfer wizard for XP', but I really only want to move a selection of folders and files and the local groups which have access to it, not so much the rest of the system settings. Can anyone recommend something on the above, or point me in the direction of some doco that might help??thanks
InTheWayBoy
I think robocopy will handle the files, along with the file permissions...as for the groups, I can't say I can help you there.http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&...=utf-8&oe=utf-8The first few links are all good to check out...good luck!
