Scann69 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Hey guy, I got a problem at hand. First time facing such a problem. Well, i just installed Win2003 on my system on a SATA Hdd. Everything works fine except that when i want to shut down Win2003, it will ask me "why i'm shutting it down" and then once i've answered that question, it will show that it's logging off then shutting down. Problem is that after awhile, i can actually hear the HDD stopping but my monitor still shows a gray screen with the mouse pointer and my CPU fan and system fan is still on. I did not have this problem on IDE Hdd with Win2003. If i run Win2003 on just SATA alone without any PATA drives attached, Win2003 shuts down fine but the minute i plug in any PATA drive, Win2003 just won't shut down. I've updated SP1 and installed all the lastest drivers including the Intel Chipset .inf files but the problem still persist. Is there something i'm missing here cos i'm really getting frastrated Your help is much appreciated.
Daemonforce Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Try initiating a system crash instead? o.OI'm sure the Ctrl+Scroll method will work for you.
Scann69 Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 Nothing seem to work My Win2003 on SATA just don't want to shut down. I've tried WinXP & Win2K and they all work fine. Am i missing something? Wonder if i can post a link to another forum on this topic being discussed but no solution. At least then people who read this thread will have a better idea.
