Alternative to vmware!

I have been using vmware for years now. I am looking for a alternative to vmware that will run indapendetly to a external usb drive. Currently I am using QEmu but its kinda slow and clunky.

Does anyone know/recomend and others out there besides virtual pc? that does not require to be installed and covered all over the host OS platform.

well there was a VPC proggy called twoOStwo, but I don't think it is in development anymore.

I think Parallels picked it up and remade it into their flagship product, Parallels Workstation 2.0

The twoOStwo installer is less than 4 megs in size and installed only one service.

Doesn't get much smaller than that.
