XP Screen Saver Password Problem

Recommended Posts

I have a strange problem with my screen saver settings. I used to be able to password protect my screen saver under the normal settings. But now all I see is "on resume, display welcome screen" which I don't want. I don't remember how it got switched to this, but I want it back the way it was before when it would just prompt me for my password. That's not an option any more.

I'm the "computer administrator" so it's not a "guest" issue. I can't figure out what's wrong, can anyone help? Thanks

I may be wrong, but i think that you cannot have the welcome screen for logging on at the same time as you have a password screen set for screensaver.

you can switch to classic logon, which will solve your problem, however you will NOT see a welcome screen when you first log on.

Go into the control panel and open the users applet. Click on the "change how users log on and off" button and uncheck the "use welcome screen" box. You should now have the option you were looking for in the screensver screen.

I was gonna say... I have the same option he suggested he wanted. I was going what? Whats the problem? LOL ... But I suppose it's due to me having classic everything, don't need all the fancy XP themes and logon screens for a home machine.
