Wireless Network Setup Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

When I try to set up a wireless network and I have to type the name of the networkname(SSID) it says I have typed one or more wrong symbols but I just enterd normal network names like "test" or something like that :s

What should I do?

P.S. I'm Belgian and my spelling might not be correct :P

Greetings,

You need to set the SSID of your wireless network on your router. At a computer that has a wired connection to the router, access the administration page and change the SSID to something unique (not the default setting). This is usually found under the wireless options page.

When you set up the network in Windows, you need to match this SSID when it prompts you for it.

Can you take a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Why not try using a program called "Network Stumbler" I think this help much to know SSID, Signal Strengh, MAC Address, ETC.

Net stumbler is useful for that, but if he hasn't edited the SSID he should change it to something unique instead of the deafult. As well as setup WEP, dhcp, filter... etc.
