partition magic shows partition type as "other", w

when i open Partition Magic 8 i see my Maxtor 6Y120P0 drive in a yellow color and the file system marked as "other":

but my Windows 2000 Disk Management shows healty:

under windows i can read and write to the partition, so what is wrong? what does Partition Magic wants?

Partition Magic doesn't support Dynamic Disks...you'll need to use a different application. I think Acronis Disk Director works...

Never mind, it doesn't support it either. As I understand it you might be able to convert the partition back to a basic disk, but I don't know how that works or if it requires you to erase the data first.

data will be lost if you do it the conventional way. you will need to back up the data then change it back to basic..

There is a way to convert it back using diskprobe.. do a quick search.. the information is everywhere and I myself have done it before...

and yes it is just as simple as changing it from a 42(i think) to a 47 (or the other way around) something like that.

Keep in mind.. I am not going to gaurentee that you wont possibly loose all your data. There is always a chance.. so make sure you have a back up either way
