InTheWayBoy Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Are all your posts recently related to one PC? Cause if it is, then I would take a step back and think it through. If you installed the copy of WinXP via a unattended, then you might be goofing something up in the process. I would try a vanilla install of WinXP, and then once you verify that it works you can try step by step to customize your unattended. Now if these are all different PC's then that's a different story. I'm just asking cause I see a lot of post by you lately...In regards to the explorer.exe hanging, that could be many things truthfully. If it was just WinXP installed, I would look at drivers...if you have other programs installed then they might be getting in the way...boy Also, what do you have starting up...sounds like it's freezing as Windows loads, so maybe a startup program is causing the problems.
Nepali Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) i am working with a different PC..i work in a company .....this is not a unattended installationXP + sp2 prowith office and drivers installed (came with motherboard) Edited September 13, 2005 by Nepali
InTheWayBoy Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Okay...so then focus on the second half of the post...what kinda applications are installed, and what's starting up.
Nepali Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) office 2003 and sound managerstartup item isintel graphic + sound mixer in taskbarane thing i have noticed...i created a new user in a same PC... works fineor logout and login the same username... works fine Edited September 13, 2005 by Nepali
InTheWayBoy Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Hmmm...thats quite a problem then. Can't say I really have any suggestions...other than to disable the Intel startup, but that's just cause it's useless in my opinion. But I don't see that being the problem here.So when it's off, you power it on and log in with ANY user and it freezes? And then when you logoff and the logon with that same user it works? Or is it just one user who is getting the issue when they first logon?
Nepali Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) just for one user only the first logon.either i have to kill explorer.exe and reload it .. or some how manage to logout and login(ctrl +alt + del --->users -- >logout explorer is hung so cant use start -->logout) again to get rid of the problem Edited September 13, 2005 by Nepali
InTheWayBoy Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 So it's just the one user...that would mean it's something with the users profile, either their registry or something bad hidden in the temp files maybe. A quick fix would be to create a new user and then move the old users documents to it...but that doesn't fix the problem.
Nepali Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 i will give it a shot... hope it will fix my problem
InTheWayBoy Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Just don't delete the old profile until you are sure you have everything...things like Outlook PST's are kinda hidden in the profile.
