isstholz Posted September 8, 2005 Share Posted September 8, 2005 I spent quite a while searching for a topic addressing this problem but low and behold, I found nothing so here I am at your mercy.I'm using windows xp with sp2 and this error started yesterday. When I go to open the control panel from the start menu, It freezes for a moment and comes up with an error saying the following:Error signature:AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: shell32.dllModVer: 6.0.2900.2620 Offset: 0002ac20The screen refreshes after the error report concludes. This only happens when I open the control panel and doesn't happen with my computer or anything else. I'm really stumped here and would appreciate any help I can get. rjz Posted September 8, 2005 Share Posted September 8, 2005 It's most likely spyware or a virus. Update your av protection and spyware scanners. Let us know what use use and if they found anything.
