andru Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 i have a new computer with a 250gig sata hard drive and i notice on the boot up screen that it is on channel 3.Is this detrimentle to the performance of the computer as it take an awfull long time to boot up and the performance seems to be very slow.Would i be better to put it onto channel 1?thanks
Davor Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) Check the HD LED while booting. If it's constantly on then the HD is the problem. Check that the transfer mode is UDMA 5 or more It shouldn't make any difference on which channel it is.If not, then the problem is elswhere.GreetsDavor Edited September 6, 2005 by Davor
andru Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 yes the red light is constantly on when booting up i have tried bootvis but this does not show anything up when it starts even in the left hand pane where all the drivers etc should show up.
Davor Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 well, i guess the chance is pretty big you are in PI/O mode... go in computer management - devices and see if you can change it to UDMA
