not to upgrade ie 6 when installiing xp sp2

since sp2 will automatically upgrade the existing ie 6 and partially disable the option of changinge text background color in ie 6 when browsing online, is there

a way to NOT upgrade ie 6 when installing/upgrading to xp sp2?

i found this somewhat annoying since after upgrading ie 6+sp2 can't show all web pages with the user-set background color which dazzles my eyes by its default white background color, while ie 6 definitely can.

any ideas?
