I have distribution lists set up in the contacts folder of OL 2003. I have auto complete on but it does not bring up any names when I begin to type. Do I have to also input the names on the distribution lists as seperate contacts? Cause I did that and I still don't get the auto complete to work. Only way I get auto complete to suggest is I sent a test e mail to a certain address. if I start to type in that address the auto complete remembers it. Please dont tell me I have to send to all the addresses once to have auto complete remember the rest of the addresses.

any help rdee

From my experience this is correct. It will auto lookup names from your global address list (if you are using an exchange server) if you know the alias, but I have not been able to populate autocomplete fields to recipients but any other means than by actually sending them an email.

Outlook 2003 as the "Check Name" button and if you start typing then hit the button it will auto complete or give you the option..

for it to automatically show up in a drop down box.. this happens after you send an email to someone for the first time.. the second time you start to type the address.. it will add it to the autocomplete.. even if it is not in any of your contact lists.
