jawamboldt Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I have an XP Pro machine and tried to convert a drive to a dynamic disk and was asked to reboot which I said yes to and nothing happened. So I rebooted manually and now the system will not boot. I took the drive out and put it i another system to attempt to resolve the issue. I ran Diskprobe to change the partition type from 0x07 to 0x42 and nothing has changed. Is there any was using diskprobe that I can change back to a basic disk or if not, does anybody have any other suggestions?
chilifrei64 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 you actually want to to be 0x07. 0x42 means dynamic disk. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...kd_tro_kyrr.aspI would change it back to 0x07 and boot to a boot cd and run chkdsk on the drive to check for errors or if it is still in the other system just run chkdsk from there. Make sure you reboot inbetween changes via hex-edit
