Recommended Posts

I am installing windows xp on my notebook. When I started installing, it starts to reboot...my cd rom was not recognized. My old OS is Windows 98SE. When the setup is not complete it says there that if i'm using SCSI CD-ROM I need to configure it properly or something like that...what should I do? Pls help me!!!

no it is working but after few minutes of installation it will stop and says that set-up cannot continue because no cd-rom was detected. It is saying that i should have SCSI file.

Before you do install

Go into win98 and look at device manager. Do you see something called SCSI anywherer in that list? If yes you need those drivers on a floppy disk.

Then using your cd-rom to boot from and press F6 at the required stage and apply your scsi drivers from that floppy, then you will be able to install correctly

If you don't see scsi listed, i'd go with it's not broken but it isn't either scsi or ide but some propiertory device, lik ethey used to be when run of the soundcard.

actually my cd-rom is old (it is using PCMCIA card) and on description it says only IDE/ESDI, I don;t have scsi on the list...is it possible that I can upgrade this cd-rom into scsi device?
