Windows 95/98 software not compatible with XP?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help with this issue.

I bought "Learn Spanish" CD that can be run on windows 95/98 and thought that it would work fine on my XP. I keep getting message "16 bit Windows subsystem, the NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction" then there is more codes and it tells me to close it.

I took it back to the computer shop and when run on their XP it worked fine.Do I need to download something to make it work?

Help very much appreciated as I am clueless at this point.

Thank you :(

You could try running the program in Compatibility Mode.

Find the executable file, right click, and select Properties. Under the Compatibility tab, put a check mark beside where it says Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 95 or 98 from the drop down list.

See if that solves your problem.
