vosrosa Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I've been having a problem with my sony laptop. I installed the omega ati driver and when i start it up it shows the windows xp progress bar and then it goes blank until it pops up with the blue error page saying 'driver caught in infinite loop.' I haven't been able to install the original sony drivers because i reinstalled with a version of xp i had; something about the sony drivers checking something before they allow install. So if anyone knows what I can do about this, it would be much appreciated.
rendrag Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 can you boot into safe mode maybe and re-install good drivers?
vosrosa Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 But the thing is the only good drivers are in the sony driver packs and it doesn't even recognize that it needs them and exits the install.
chilifrei64 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Go to Sony's website and download the correct drivers, put them on a disk. boot into vga mode and install the correct drivers
vosrosa Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 Would that get past the sony driver installation checking and saying they won't work for this system? It checks to see if the computer has it (which it does) but it says it doesn't.
chilifrei64 Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 if it is a setup type driver installation. it will create a temporary directory somewhere on your computer (each one is different) most likely %userprofile%\local settings\tempcopy the contents and install it manually. All you really need for most driver installations is the .inf , .sys , .drv and the .cat if it is digitally signed.
