Outlook, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

Running on Windows xp professional, there's an intermittent problem that causes new and unread messages to appear to have been read. My first response was to turn off the preview and "Mark messages read after displaying for 5 seconds", after this failed I turned off rules also. This too failed to work. The most frustrating thing about this problem is that it doesn't happen to every message or seem to have any thing to do with the person that's sending it (one message can be fine then the next this could happen to). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Have you tried to verify that you unchecked "Use Cached Exchange Mode" when you set up your exchange on Outlook under email accounts?
