piaqt
Anyone know what the purpose of "boot delay" is?[/color:ab7189182b]
XPerties
To enable certain programs to have a allowed amount of time to start up with out having errors. Sorta like Zone Alarm need in the early stages of its versions.-XPerties
sedative
is that why my computer "freezes" (for lack of a better word) when i reboot?when i first boot, i can run certain programs.. like mirc or solitaire or whatever. but others won't work, especially internet explorer. if i click on it, i have to wait like a minute for the browser window to pop up. if this isn't why it delays, anybody know why it does? and more importantly, how in the world do i fix it? XPerties
whats your system specs? Are you overloading your cpu with a bunch of crap loading up with windows. Its alwasy nice to have a login screen. This gives your system a little more time to relax on boot up.-XPerties
sedative
welp, no login screen, just goes straight into windows. only things that load are norton av, mcafee firewall (the norton firewall p***ed me off), and weatherbug. now that i think of it, i bet it's norton.. when it first starts it starts without auto protect enabled.. it doesn't enable it until the same time that internet explorer starts working. piaqt
OK, so what's the optimal time limit for boot delay, or is it a "try and see" thing?[/color:37f87d6022]
piaqt
Sedative: it probably [i:4714885e54]is[/i:4714885e54] Norton. Effing thing is a real pain. BTW, which version are you running? Also, there may be something in the KB on this. I've had my go-rounds with Norton, too.[/color:4714885e54] :WTF?:
