XLShadow Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Forgive me if this is old information but if my search attempts are anything to go by, I don't have anything to worry about.I've finally removed, IMHO, the useless Thumbnails View from Windows 2000. I use Irfan View to meet my image handling needs.I tracked the Thumbnail view down to this location in the registry. Simply remove it and you will instantly notice the Thumbnails View option is no longer avilable. If the option is still showing up in Explorer, you will have to log out then log back in.[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ExtShellViews\{8BEBB290-52D0-11d0-B7F4-00C04FD706EC}]You can also remove the "View as Web" from ExtShellViews by removing the other Key. (I only found two off a fresh install.)[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ExtShellViews\{5984FFE0-28D4-11CF-AE66-08002B2E1262}]As far as I can tell, you can also unregister "thumbvw.dll" and maybe even delete. I'm not sure if anything else needs this. Please confirm. As for Windows XP... the Thumbnail view appears much more embeded then it was with Windows 2000 because the above methods do not work.
