Martin Zugec Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Hi all admins!I got really big problem - my logon scripts stopped working, they dont even launch. I got three DCs, problematic workstations are w2k. They can see the GPO, but they wont run it. After some time I was finally able to dump problem from PC:GPTEXT(a4.4f8) 07:07:17:515 ProcessScriptsGroupPolicy Failed to get file attributes of \\domain.com\SysVol\domain.com\Policies\{12D9178C-2D4E-475F-9041-1BECDDF269B4}\User\Scripts\scripts.ini with 1351GPTEXT(a4.568) 17:20:27:468 ProcessScriptsGroupPolicy: Both the logon script and logoff script are NULL, but at least one command line should be present.Any ideas?
m8rk Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 (edited) I had a problem with a bad script which as a side effect stopped GPO's being applied properly.Do you use GPMC? [can help isolate errors] Edited June 13, 2005 by m8rk
Martin Zugec Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Could you please describe your problem more to depth? How did that script disabled GPO?Yep, I am using GPMC...
Martin Zugec Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Problem solved - different ACT in AD/SysVol... Thx for help
m8rk Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 A reg patch I'd added wouldn't install because of a permissions problem and this stopped the whole policy being applied!Glad you got it sorted
Martin Zugec Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 Well, the problem is not solved - I dont know what to do DNS is OK.Gpresult is OK.GPOTool is OK.ACLs in Sysvol are OK.Why the scripts wont run????
m8rk Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Have you checked there's nothing happenning on the local machines. I've not solved the problem here yet [think 2K Server & XP Clients isn't helping - but please feel free to correct me ]Profiles are being held on my clients and overiding policies on my network. The only success i've had is to delete the locally stored profiles manually.
Martin Zugec Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 It isnt problem of profiles - it is machine wide When I log to that PC, scripts arent working for me, too
m8rk Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Are the script corrupted? Can you run them independantly on the target machines? Have you tried stepping through them - adding pauses and running them visible??
Martin Zugec Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 Script wont run - even UserInit isnt initialized The main problem is that HKCU\..\Scripts section isnt added, so UserInit dont know what scripts it should launch
