Question about CD/DVD Burning

Featured Replies

I beleive that I've read that burning a CD\DVD with the largest files first speeds up the disc reading process. My question is, with what software (or procedure) can this be accomplished? I'll sit down and wait for any answers (hopefully)!

I think you were "upside-down" when you wrote the above post. In fact the opposite of your statement are true:

To accelerate the access time, put the smallst file at first, then second smallst, ... etc, at last the largest file.

I've used WinOnCD 2.xx/3.0/4.0 to define the position of every single file on cd. Since many years I havn't used this feature any more.

You are correct that I am totally backwards in my thinking. However, I have found a few utils like "Burn to the Brim" which allows me to easily organize my files so that I can finally at least burn large files towards the center like I want. I'm just tired of making software compilations and having the larger "one-click" install files be unreadable by someone's system 3 months down the line. Thanks greatly for your input! :D

I think those "unreadable" cds can be copied by clonecd etc...
